Chandler box

To go with the Panda themed baby shower I made a collection of baby items for my friend’s baby Chandler.  I used a modern color palate of Cranberry, Light Pink, White, Gray and Lime.  I used a simple chevron pattern for the blanket.IMG_2874    The pattern is called Double Shell Ripple

I also made a few little toys and baubles for her.

The simply cute Panda bear I got from a pattern on Craftsy.

I used this modified pattern from Ravelry for the Panda Rattle

I’m always looking for unique gifts for my kids teachers for the Holidays. I also try to make something handmade.  The mascot of my sons school is the bulldog.  I searched HIGH and LOW for a cute Amigurumi bulldog pattern and I finally found one that I fell in love with here:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/88415398/baby-bulldog-puppy-pdf-tutorial-by-katja

I bit the bullet and bought the pattern.  Her pattern is easy to follow and very intricate.  It’s fantastic.  I highly recommend using them.

Here is a link to her site:

http://www.np-trade.de/ – It’s in German, but of course you can translate.

The schools colors are Purple and Yellow and the mascot is grey.

I made 2 little bulldogs for his teachers.  I finished them off with little purple cat collars that I got at Petsmart.

I had personalized dog tags made at Petco on Purple hearts

On the front of the tags I put his teachers names and on the back my son’s name and the year.

Additionally, since it’s a Catholic school — I added a very nice St. Joseph medal that I got from www.rosarymart.com

I hope his teachers like the gift.  I think they came out adorable.  They are both very different even though from the same pattern.  Just like 2 dogs from the same litter don’t look the same.

I used I Love this Yarn from Hobby Lobby — each bulldog takes almost an entire skein.

I also used safety eyes and noses instead of crocheting them.

Another easy but SOOOOO cute pattern.  I found this one on www.pinterest.com

I found the pattern here:

http://catecrochets.blogspot.com/2013/09/adjustable-boot-cuffs.html

I made one slight modification — I only did 7 rows of shells instead of 8 simply because I only had 6 buttons instead of 8.   I picked up some really cute metal buttons at www.hancockfabrics.com.

I used Lion Brand wool-ease that I got from Michaels.  I think they turned out great and will be fabulous for my $5.00 gift exchange!!!

Here they are:

BootCuffs

It’s 2015 and this year for the Christmas Pageant at my son’s preschool he was a wiseman.  I had NO idea what to do but his dad came up with this great idea.   He said, “You know those beanies with the beards on them?  Maybe you could do one of those!”  From there I searched http://www.ravelry.com and found 2 patterns that I knew I could use!

The first part of the hat was the “Prince Jughead” — http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/prince-jughead

I used Purple for the beanie portion (symbolizing Royalty) and Gold for the crown.

For my 5 year old son, I went with the Child size for the beanie.

The second portion was the “Bobble Bearded Beanie” — http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/bobble-bearded-beanie

I went ahead and used dark brown because it was a fun contrast.  I used the medium size.  I stitched it onto the beanie by fitting it on my son in the right part.  It turned out super cute.  Here are a few pics.

Vada Top Hat

I’ve been at it again.  I have another friend having a baby so I made her a blanket and toy!!!  I call it my Bubble Guppy collection because of the Goldfish on the toy and the bubble stitches on the blanket!  I used fun bright colors and I couldn’t be more happy with how it turned out.

Bubbleguppy3

The inspiration for my Bubble Guppy collection came from 2 places:

The blanket idea came from the Blackberry Salad stripped baby blanket.  I used the bubble stitches and very similar colors.

http://theyarnbox.com/blackberry-salad-striped-baby-blanket/

I prefer more texture in my designs, so I did 7 rows of the bubble stitch just like in the blanket above, but then I did 2 rows of double crochet (DC) for the different colored stripes.  I finished it off with a row of half double crochet (HDC) in each colors.

I made the teether from this pattern:

Bubbleguppy2

I didn’t deviate much…the Easter egg idea is BRILLIANT, although I filled mine with small wooden balls instead!

I used an H (5.00) hook and  Baby Bee Yarn from Hobby Lobby in the following colors

  • Hot Tots Sweet Delight – Purple
  • Grape Jelly Sweet Delight – Light Purple
  • Naked Sweet Delight – Lime
  • Teal Sweet Delight – Teal
  • Teal Too! Sweet Delight – Light Teal
  • Baby Red Sweet Delight – Hot Pink
  • Carrots Oh No Sweet Delight – Orange

I’ve recently found some Bamboo spun yarn at Hobby Lobby that I absolutely adore!   I made a baby blanket for a work colleague in off-white and dark purple. I crocheted it with a large hook.  It was a bit difficult to work with since the bamboo is rough spun, so when I wanted to complete a larger project, I went with knitting.  I used Red and Grey and I turned out beautifully and so soft.

I saw this guy on Pinterest and he was just so stinkin’ cute!

This guy is an example of Kawaii Amigurmi or “Cute” Amigurumi

Kawaii,  pronounced kah-why-ee, (similar to Hawaii but with a K) kawaii is a rough Japanese translation of “cute”.   You see a lot of little characters, food with smiles — anything “Cutesy”  — a word we use here in the south!

Check him out on Ravelry!!!

I used 9 MM eyes, just because that’s what I already had on hand — I don’t think it makes that much of a difference.  I also sewed on the wings and the ears — just to make him a bit more sturdy!

I added the cute heart like an example I saw on Pinterest!  He’s darling!

I baaaaaaaaaaack my little chirpers!

I has been a long, trying summer — but I’m back in the saddle again.  Work has been crazy, my personal life a mess, but now I’m back.  I have several projects in the hopper I hope to finish this little guy tomorrow — He’s already started out super cute and I can’t wait to see how he turns out!   Little Red is so excited!  I need a quick fix and this guy sure hits the mark!

Come back tomorrow to see my finished project!!!!!  Until then

I  made another set of baby shower gifts.  I went with the basket weave blanket this time in gray and teal.  It turned out very heavy and very cool.  It’s a pretty easy stitch once you get the hang of it.  I got the pattern from Ravelry.com here  http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/basket-weave-baby-blanket-3

It really goes pretty quickly once you get going as well.

In addition I did another snuggler and a matching a matching cap as well!  I stuck with the gray and teal but also added some orange and purple.  I think they turned out super cute.
